ETHNO FAIRS

Ethno fairs were organized 2 times, one in Niš and one in Vidin, each lasting 2 days. The fairs were organized on 28th and 29th of September in Niš in the ceremony hall of the First Niš Gymnasium “Stevan Sremac” and on 6th and 7th of October in the premises of Gymnasium “Tsar Simenon Veliki” in Vidin.

At the fairs, ethno items collected during the workshops - ethno rooms were exhibited and they represented the results of one-year project and 6-month work with the high school pupils.

 At the fairs more than 1500 visitors were able to see a few hundreds of exhibited items which the young people collected during the field explorations in border region or brought from their family collections.

The fairs were a great chance to establish contacts with the representatives of the local community who deal with craftsmen domestic industry. Namely, beside the exhibited ethno items and other material collected by the pupils, the work of the craftsmen domestic industry were also exhibited, since they also preserve cultural heritage.

The opening of the fair in Niš was followed by the traditional songs that were interpreted by pupils from the First Niš Gymnasium “Stevan Sremac” and a fashion show of the models for young people with the ethno motifs, produced by members of the UG “Radinost” from Aleksinac. The fair in Vidin began with the folk songs and dances from Bulgaria, which was presented by the pupils of the school "Tsar Simeon Veliki"
